Thank you! ("sleep" poll)

Thank you so very much!

I just recently found something out accidentally.  I have been made acutely aware of the fact that by digesting food better:

Sleep comes 90% faster then before
There are no night leg cramps
Sleeping on a too hard or too soft a mattress didn't matter (neither was noticed)
The night seems to go by swiftly. (I am not sure this is good or bad)

I hope whatever your situation is when you are biking that you awake refreshed every day that you bike.
If I could have a string of hostels between Maine and Wisconsin... My goal would be to make sure everyone had a good nights sleep. It would be neat to offer juicing as an option. Along with another idea which would make sure no body was in any form of pain. :) Enjoy your travels. Enjoy your life.

I am a light sleeper most of the time  Polled the most votes

Although very few people have voted, I thought that this was interesting trend.   I wonder if the people who ticked this are like me when out on the road, maybe camping in unfamiliar territory or wild camping, are always that bit more aware of their environment.  And not relaxing quite as much as when at home?

To stay safe you really need to be that bit more vigilant I think.

Any other thoughts?

I am surprised no one has yet said they sleep better on tour.  I almost did, but I generally sleep well where ever I am.  Ideally I would have said yes to three of the possible answers:
  • During a bike trip
  • I can sleep most anywhere
  • I need a lot of sleep

On the eating portion of the OP's comments.  I eat dinner early in the evening and don't eat huge meals at all.  I nibble constantly through the day though and find that works well for me.

It's a difficult poll to answer because it asks several orthogonal questions and multiple answers can all apply.

Unfortunately, polls on this site can only be set up as "choose one" type polls rather than "choose all that apply". So to get what you want, you'd have to set up multiple polls, each asking one specific question. I'm not exactly sure what you're going for here. Perhaps you're just interested in how well people sleep on a tour. If so, you could start a new poll asking that one question, with possible answers like, "Like the dead", "Pretty well", "Not very well", "Really badly".

You could mix and match your answers to suit your needs with optional explanation.
If I could separate the top 2 questions from the bottom 4 questions, that might make more sense.

Seems to me there are three questions, each with two possible answers.

The first two answers seem to respond to the question, "Where do you sleep best?"

The next two answers seem to respond to the question, "How well do you sleep?"

The last two answers seem to respond to the question, "How much sleep do you need?"

And the final answer of "other" seems not to respond to any question.

Oh,  "other" would answer to someone who needs to be knocked out with sleeping pills.

I was expecting that sleep would come easier, faster, and more sound on a bike trip. Of course, I was imagining country settings. (Then again, Tony mentioned vigilance, so that could be an issue)

Unfortunately, polls on this site can only be set up as "choose one" type polls rather than "choose all that apply".

I think you can allow multiple choice in a poll on this board. I went to the new poll option and below the options that you can create for choices there's this:

Poll Options:    Maximum votes per user.

My guess is that if you changed the "poll options" number to equal the number of options in the poll, then someone could click as many choices applied to them. I don't want to do a test poll to find out because I don't know if this board allows you to delete a topic. So...Admin., is this correct???

Oh well...

At least my wheels have been turning from just reading these few posts. Lots of things to consider when it comes to the need for a good nights sleep.
