Florida Connector - help needed

Hi

I'm planning a cycle tour of Florida in February 2011 and need some advice about the roads on the Florida Connector route.

I'm travelling to Florida from the UK and have experience of motoring in the US. The Florida Connector route seems to use a lot of fairly major roads, when there appear to be quieter alternatives. For example, approaching Fort Myers, Route 31 North to Arcadia looks a much better option than Highway 41 (which is the recommended route). Are routes such as Route 31 North asphalted and suitable for cycling?

Hi Woodward I have cycled much of the Connector and around Florida, I live in Southampton UK but have a house that is  within 3 miles of the ACA route. Are you anywhere near me in UK? as would be happy to give you info not only on the Connector but on the many brilliant trails you could easily incorporate in your trip.
