Great Lakes Route
« on: March 17, 2010, 09:37:58 pm »
Looking for a good route to connect with the great lakes route coming from LaPorte, Indiana. This would be our first long distance trip so we would appreciate all the help we can get.
Thanks

You might want to start with the maps available on this page under the heading "Where can I learn more about the Indiana trails plan?"

Check out League of Michigan Bicyclist  web site at www.lmb.org.  They have two routes mapped out that go from Lake Michigan to Lake Heron. The maps all so lists a few campgrounds and some local history. This route crosses the Great Lakes Route between the Village of White Pigeon and  the city of Sturgis.  These cities are in southern Michigan  on US 12.  DO NOT RIDE US 12.  There is way to much traffic and  Big trucks. Both going 55 mph plus!!! NO shoulder to ride on.  Hope this helps.  Diane R
