Mayan Riviera Trip
« on: January 24, 2011, 02:24:00 pm »
I'm planning a trip to the Mayan Riviera in March and came across the following ( from 2004 ):

http://www.adventurecycling.org/resources/mexicosyucatan.pdf

It describes coastal highway 307 thus: "Its wide breakdown lane makes cycling very safe, although noisy."

Does anyone have any more recent experience or useful feedback regarding a bike ride in this area.  I'm wondering about both traffic safety and personal safety as well as planning suggestions.

Thanks!

You could go over to crazyguyonabike.com and do a search on 307 & Tulum or something similar.  There have been a few riders doing tours down there within the past year or so if I remember correctly.  You can contact the journal's author though their guestbook.
