Can anyone suggest the best route and camping options through Vancouver, BC from Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal to Sumas, WA (start of Sierra Cascades) and/or to Hope, BC?

One place to start might be Cascade Bicycle Club.  (www.cascade.org).  They run the RSVP ride from Seattle to Vancouver every year and so cover at least part of the route you are interested in.

Hi Cathy

I rode from Vancouver to HS Bay last year so the opposite direction to you and I used the Bicycling the Pacific Coast by Spring & Kirkdendall. There is a Youth Hostel called the Jericho on the route they describe. I didn't stay there but it looked ok from the outside. If you can get the book it might help you. Alternatively I stayed at the Coast Hotel on SW Marine Drive which is also on the route and they are very bike friendly. I shall be staying there again this year to get over the jet lag from the UK.

I am riding the Washington Parks this year and have to get from Vancouver to WA where I will pick up the route at Sedro Woolley, I think it may intersect with the Cascades route. If it is any help there are two campsites on that route. Birch Bay SP about 40 miles from the Oak Bridge in Vancouver and Bay View SP another 49 miles on.

From Horseshoe Bay, take Marine Drive into downtown via the Lion's Gate Bridge. There are several ways to get through downtown Vancouver, one of the better ones being Union/Adanac/Frances to Barnett Hwy towards Coquitlam. I would follow hwy 7 (Lougheed Hwy) to Mission and then go south on Hwy 11 (Abotsford-Mission Hwy) which will take you straight to Sumas

Thank you to all who have responded.  I have found the book and found Vancouver and Burnaby bike maps on line.  I appreciate the advice.
