Anyone ridden from Everett, WA to Lake Chelan, WA? What route did you take? Can you recommend places to stay?

Highway 2 to Wenatchee and then north along the Columbia river to Chelan.  The east side of the river (through Orondo) is, I think, better, with less traffic and good roads.  I have ridden most sections of this in various trips, in fact just today did the approx 17 mile stretch from Orondo to Wenatchee.  HWY 2 from from about Index to Stevens Pass can be a little scary, with poor shoulders at times, curves, and traffic.  You should be experienced on highways and definitely have a mirror.  Weekdays would be way better that weekends.  You will gain about 4000 feet, even a little more due to ups and downs, getting from Puget Sound (Everett area), to the pass.  After that, there are no major hills, all the way to Chelan.  In the summer, you could get rain on the west side of Stevens and could get very hot weather in the columbia River area.  It's a great ride, but again, be aware of the last 20 miles or so on the west side of Stevens Pass.
May the wind be at your back!
