Denver to Iowa City, Iowa
« on: July 16, 2010, 05:26:46 pm »
Hello, I'm a total newbie to adventure cycling and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions.

I'm taking the Colorado bar exam in Denver next week and wanted to know if there is a good way to get 'home' (Iowa City) via bike.  After spending the last three months sitting inside in front of books, I'm in need of a long, slow, decompression ride.  I looked at the map and I'm not sure how this would work.

Thanks,

will

Since your intended beginning and ending points don't seem to be directly on any of our routes, you may have to create your own. To start, you'll want to get in touch with the bike coordinators for the states in which you will be traveling through and check their online resources. The bike coordinators have a wealth of information that they can distribute for no charge. Most every state publishes a bicycle map of their
state that they will send out for free. And while the maps aren't as detailed as ours, they generally offer suggested roads for cycling through
their state. But every little piece of information can help. Here is a link to the contact information for all of the bicycle coordinators:

I hope this helps.

The Cowboy Trail in Nebraska might be of use, though I think a piece of it is closed right now due to flooding:
