I use stick-on velcro to hold keep the Ortileb map case from flapping around. Works like a charm.

Velcro will work too, do you have problems in wet or cold weather?

Ortlieb Ultimate 5 handbag seems to be a nice product and as a newbie I’m trying some of my new purchases out. I’ve found the cover to be a little fussy trying to get it closed while riding. Several times now the stuff I put in it like IPhone, compact camera, snack bar, etc. works its way under the divider making the divider useless. The arm strap complicates closing the bag if left on, so you must store the arm strap somewhere until you need to remove the bag to carry it with you. I’ve done a lot of research and these little anomalies are not mentioned. Is this true of other bags? I’m I the only one that finds little irritating issues might be easily solved?..

I wouldn't know; I don't use the divider.  Instead, I use the contents of the bag to organize things in my bar bag.  If I need more complete control of the organization, I take used, clean vacuum seal bags that are open on one end.

Rvklassen, I remember Rhode Gear. I believe I had a mirror from them and other assorted accessories. Are they still in business? Waynemeyer, is the used, clean vacuum sealed bag waterproof? Interesting

Tourista, they're waterproof unless they have been damaged.  And if I clamp them closed tightly enough.  I usually just leave them open at the top (in the handlebar bag) or fold them over and secure with a binder clip.

I have a food business so I have plenty of vacuum sealer bags and various size rolls.  While they are cheap enough, the plastic is a rather heavy material and it seems wasteful to throw them out.  I run used, dirty bags through my dishwasher and they're good to go.  I even reseal them sometimes if the contents will be messy or must stay dry.

Warning: objects such as keys, coins, and anything with an edge will fret a hole through the vacuum bag.  The incessant, small vibration causes anything with a corner or sharp-ish edge to slowly chew up the bag.  Be aware of what you place in/on/adjacent to the bag.

My humble apologies, I wasn't being unkind. When you mentioned vacuum bags, I thought you were talking about vacuum cleaner bags. Shows you where my head was at. Thanks for the tip, I will try it out. I think I am going to replace my Jandd bag with an Ortlieb handlebar bag, since the rest of our gear is Ortlieb.

I use Coghlan's Mini Stretch cord to hold the map case in place. Plus it can be used if you need to hold something quickly like sunglasses, a secondary map (like when you are getting out of a town), a phrase book or whatever. I also use it to hold speakers when I listen music while riding. Also, sometimes I use two map holders as they can snap into each other.
