Philadelphia to Richmond
« on: July 28, 2010, 09:21:22 pm »
We are planning on following the ACA route between Philly and Richmond in September.  We do not camp :)  Any out of the way places to see/stay that we shouldn't miss?  We like hokey small town stuff--old car shows, fire truck parades, pancake breakfasts.  We are also unsure how much to book ahead.  Will places be very crowded?  We did the Bar Harbor to Philly sections in previous years in October and didn't have any trouble finding B&Bs or motels as we went along.  Thanks for any help!

Some counties, cities and/or townships have web sites that highlight local events and attractions. Search for them using the geographical information on maps.

For example:

http://www.parivertowns.com/

Keep hitting "Get Next Matches" and the calendar of events will progress.

When I did the Great Parks North loop last year I simply Googled the name of every town in the U.S. and Canada we planned to stay in.  Doing so got me to web sites for the specific towns and/or areas.  The sites described events, attractions and lodging options.
