Avoiding Williston ND due to oil traffic
« on: August 07, 2010, 12:20:45 pm »
We are in the middle of the Lewis and Clark maps and have heard really bad things about Williston ND and all the oil traffic there.  Is there a good route we can take to re-join with the L & C maps while avoiding this city?

Thanks

Hi,

Honestly, I think much of western North Dakota is experiencing a boom of gas and oil exploration. Keeping that in mind, you might want to check this map on the North Dakota Department of Transportation website. It describes some road specifications and hopefully will at least guide you off the busiest roads:

You might also want to contact the ND Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for options:

Good luck and have fun!
