Northern Tier to Southern Tier, NY State to Southern California
« on: September 07, 2010, 07:41:19 pm »
Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has gone from the northeast to southern California (San Diego area) connecting the Northern Tier route and the Southern Tier route for the most straight forward trip. I'd pick up the Northern route somewhere between Syracuse and the Finger Lakes, and would go from there. Thanks for any help.

It looks like your best bet would be to take the Northern Tier and connect to the Underground Railroad (UR).  Then connect to the Great Rivers which connects to the Southern Tier.    You could also connect to the Trans Am from the UR and then take the Western Express.  The Western Express connects to the Grand Canyon Connector (connects to ST) or go all the way to the coast and catch the Pacific Coast.  It just depends on whether you are interested in scenery or just the shortest route.

If you will consider a non-ACA route, contact me privately for a 1010 mile route that goes from Girard, KS (on the TransAm) to Las Cruces, NM (on the Southern Tier).  To get to Girard, take the Northern Tier to the UGRR to the TransAm.  Once in Las Cruces, take the Southern Tier to San Diego.

Thanks Aggie and John for your replies. I'm sorry to be slow getting back on this, but I've been away for a few days. I'll be sending you an email shortly, John, to take you up on your offer. Thanks again folks.
