Bend to Berkeley (end of october)

I've got 7 days to make it from Bend to Berkeley during the last week in October. Obviously this is a dodgy time of year weather wise for the coast. My plan is to meet the Pacific Coast Route in Crescent City, CA. However, if the weather forecast is terrible I'll do the Gold-Rush Randonee Route http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Gold-Rush-Randonnee-Outbound that is largely east of the Cascades or something else...Any suggested routes for this time of year if a Pacific storm is pounding the coast and likely the mountains. I'm trying to keep it at around 700 miles since I've only got 7 days.
