Looking for a riding partner from Tennessee to SanDiego or points in between

Hello! A few weeks ago our son embarked on a ride from Michigan headed for SanDiego and made it to Tennessee.  The ride was going good until his partner became ill and decided that he will quit this weekend.  He, however, is still motivated to press on and complete the ride.  Are there any riders in the area of Knoxville headed in the same direction that he could join up with?  Even if its for a portion of the ride?  Any information or suggestions to help him find a riding partner would be greatly appreciated.

He's got some experience now, I'd urge him to carry on solo. Finding a good touring partner is like finding a good spouse and about as difficult.
