stripping decals on a steel frame

hi all,

i have a surly lht, and i'm wondering if anyone can suggest a good way to go about stripping the decals? also, would i need to reseal the areas i've stripped w/ clear-coat or something like it?

Been there, done that.

If your bike needs a new look, pay an industrial coater $100 to strip your frame and fork, apply an epoxy base coat and polyurethane top coat.  Get in the queue behind a large commercial job and pay less (if you're not picky about color).  Your bike will look brand new and the finish will be close to indestructible.  I finally did this with my Americano after screwing around with solvents and paint for months - I even had access to a frame-sized oven!

If you want to hide the fact that you have a LHT, cover the decals with tape.

Selectively removing decals from a steel frame without making a mess is probably impossible.

Which one don't you like? the "Fatties fit fine" often causes a few raised eyebrows.
