Your views on Easton EA90SLX wheels

I am considering buying a new wheel set for my XC bike and need your advice to get the best one. Well, currently I am looking at Easton EA90SLX wheels. I have never used this brand ever before, but read many good reviews on it. Has anyone used these wheels? If so, then what's your experience so far? I am not committed to purchase Easton EA90SLX wheels, so recommendations for other wheels are also welcome.

They look like low spoke count (18 front, 24 rear) race wheels.  I doubt they are especially suited to touring unless you are talking about sagged tours where someone is carrying your stuff.

This is a touring forumn.  We can advise on what makes sense for you touring bike.  I am not sure what an XC bike is.

If you want really nice wheels, give Peter White (www.peterwhitecycles.com) a call.  He'll want to know how you want to use the wheels, and then recommend the right ones for your weight and intended use.

These are handbuilt, and built well.  I'd sooner pay 500-800 for a hand built wheelset of that quality than buy something machine-built for $1000 knocked down to $580.

I'm sure there are other wheelbuilders out there with similar quality.  I just don't know who they are.

You don't give any idea what you want these wheelsfor.  "XC" usually means cross country MTB use.  If that's the case, you are asking the wrong people.

As a general rule, Easton products are very good for their intended use.  Just be sure you intend to use them for what Easton designed them for.
