cross the United States, February to May
« on: December 03, 2010, 09:52:39 am »
Hi,
I'm planning a bicycle tour through the United States.
I start on February 23, 2011 in Miami.
The tour will be over in Los Angeles 90 days later.
That would be the 22 May 2011. Then I want to go to Japan and then to Russia.
The route is not fixed yet. But I want to go to New Orleans.
I go on bicycle about 20 km / h and 100km per day.
I take a tent and much further luggage.

Would like someone to accompany a portion of the track?
I would be grateful to tent a night in your garden.

Yours sincerely,
Jonas from Lübeck, Germany.

Hi Jonas,

This is excellent time of year to ride the Southern Tier route, http://www.adventurecycling.org/routes/index.cfm. It passes close to Miami and New Orleans, ending at San Diego. The Pacific Coast route goes from San Diego to Los Angeles.

These Adventure Cycling maps are the best available for cycle touring. Not only the maps, but also the service directories on the reverse side, where you find campgrounds, stores, bike shops, etc. Worth every penny.

What Fred said.  Get the maps and have a blast.
