Brakes compatible with Sakkit Touring Racks
« on: January 15, 2011, 01:26:54 pm »
Hoping some one has a suggestion to get more braking power on my Sakkit Expedition 26.

I have both the front and rear Sakkit racks on it and currently have the original Shimano Deore LX cantilever brakes on it. I Replaced the front brake with the more modern version of the same brakes.

There's a clearance issue with the front rack that makes it very difficult to find a suitable brake aside from the Shimano canti. Does anyone have a suggestion? I am restricted by width so it's difficult to find anything that works! Just can't get enough leverage. the new brake needs to be smaller than 6" at its widest portion in order to fit.

So what should I do? Leave the front brake as it is and replace the rear(the rear brake has no restrictions)?

Thanks-G.

Nice stuff.  I am a Beckman fan, too.  Someone recently stole my LHT with the rear rack and the mounting hardware for the front rack attached.

Maybe check these:
