love to be by myself out on the back roads of farm country in the middle of growing season. Nothing compares to the peaceful solitude which is why I ride.

^^^ I second that.

I'll leave the rest of the topic alone.

??? I was hoping this was going to be about coarse threaded bolts and bosses. :)

This forum has been very helpful to me. I waste alot of time on other bicycle forums that seem to be over ran with d**k and fart jokes, and people bragging about money they've spent.  I really am thankful for the wealth of useful information present here. I know if I have a question Google will not answer, then an experienced tourer will be happy to provide advice here without mocking what I'm doing or what I'm about.

If you have a valid question about bicycle touring, feel free to post. If no one does, then there is no reason to panic. I don't know why you'd use a thread to bash the forum that allowed you to post it. Also FWIW I watched "Captain Ron" last night and think sailing looks fun.

Thanks for pointing that out 10 speed. I am a highly experienced long-distance cyclist However, I do not have a great deal of technical knowledge like many on this forum do have. If someone has a question about cycle touring I can answer from my own experience and from reading, I will try to inform them.

Captain Ron: We should be okay. 'Cause I know we're near land.
Martin Harvey: Great, Cap. Great. Ya hear that? We're almost there. Explain to the kids how you know that, Captain Ron. Someone translate for General Armando.
Captain Ron: Alright, now stay with me: When we left, we had just enough fuel to make it to San Juan. And we are out of fuel.

This one's in my top 10 list of "Accidental Adventures"

...and he rides!

This forum feels like a community with a lot a caring, experienced regulars.  I've learned a lot here.  There are no "posers" on here.

The size of it seems just right to me.
May the wind be at your back!

Someone who habitually pretends to be something he is not; those who “talk the talk but don't walk the walk."

. . . and i thought "low thread numbers" was gonna be about the number of threads per square inch on bicycle tires, something which has always confused me.  but i agree with the others . . . the forum users on this site are calm, polite, reasonable.  which isn't true of bikeforums.net, and why i just deleted it from my favorites list.  i, like a lot of bikers, didn't know this forum existed.
