Access to SFO Airport

Hi !

My wife and I will be biking from Vancouver to San Francisco next summer.   We'll be taking a plane back to Montréal from SFO airport.  Do you know if there is a safe way to bike to SFO airport ?

If not, I saw that you can use BART to get to the airport... Is it easy to do with 2 bikes equipped with big paniers ?

Getting to SFO by bicycle is tricky at best. You might be able to pick your way there on back streets. You can take your bikes there on BART. For information go to: http://www.bart.gov/guide/bikes/

I live in SF. Do not bike to the airport. take bart from downtown. it's easy.

I, too, live in SF - take the advice of the previous responders:  take BART from SF to the airport.

Ok... It's been a long time since my first post...

Thanks everyone for your response.  Still wondering, though... Heavy loaded bikes like ours, in BART ?  I understand it's easy with a regular bike, but we can't really use stairs with our bikes on our shoulder...  Are there elevators in all (or some ) of bart stations ?

Yes, I took BART from Walnut Creek to Daly City with a fully loaded tour bike.  There are elevators for handicap access, you just roll it onto the train.  There's no baggage car or anything, so you just stand (or sit if you're lucky) next to the bike & hold it up during the ride.

No bikes during rush hour in the rush direction.
