Ride Idaho 2011, Jan. 15 announcement

The route for the seventh annual Ride Idaho bicycle tour will be up on their website on Saturday, January 15, 2011.

rideidaho.org

The 2009 route in central Idaho only got 150 riders but last year's event in northern Idaho sold out all 300 seats in less than six weeks. So we're hoping the management has figured out how to plan another interesting route with broad appeal.

Don't let me be the only recumbent on the ride.

Our route is now online and registration is open at  < rideidaho.org >

$700, fully supported, camping, shower truck, all meals, mechanical support. Hotel options shoudl be avaialble in all of our stops if you act soon. You will handle those arrangements yourself. The official line on RVs is to welcome them but, as a rider, I say, forget it and rough it for a week.

August 7 we'll take off from the little town of Lowman and head over Banner Summit to the Stanley Basin. Then north along the Salmon River to Challis. We'll turn south to Arco and the Craters of the Moon on our way to Picabo. We'll have a layover day in Hailey and then north, crossing Galena summit, back to Stanley. We finish up after a short run back to the starting line at Lowman.

If you want to investigate the area, try searching for those town names, Sawtooth Mountains, White Cloud Mountains, Lost River Mountains, Craters of the Moon, Salmon River, Payette River, Big Wood River, Galena Lodge, and Idaho's Scenic Byways. But I can save you the trouble. Just sign up. We started with 350 slots yesterday and about 30 of them are already filled.

Sounds like a beautiful ride in the heart of Idaho. I would certainly ride my trike. See if I can possibly raise some funds $$.  :)
