I haven't used that one. How much does it cost? Continental is a good tire.

from biketiresdirect it's $35.99  ;D

It's good enough I would say, but the SMP is most likely your best bet from everything I have read about it, and that's
definitely what I am going with the next time I do a transcontinental bike tour across the USA. I would still bring a good puncture / patch kit though.

I've used the Continental Gatorskins for years now with no flats, and thousands of miles.  Put in a good quality tube with no patches.  Here's a review:  http://www.bikenewengland.com/gatorskin.html

Yes. Something like that would be excellent for a loaded, transcontinental ride.

I would write to John Schubert, ACO tech writer/editor. I have got to believe, someone has written a review on the Continental Touring Plus Reflex Tire. (Don't the 700c Surly LHT's use a variant of this tire) There may be a tire comparison done either here or in Europe that might shed some light. I would also look at Peter White Cycles, since he builds wheels.
