Planning TransAmerica for Summer 2012
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:14:11 am »
Hi,
I am planning to ride the TransAmerica route on my own in summer 2012. While living in Europe I have a couple of questions regarding routing.
I will possibly follow the Oregon-Virginia ACA route on my Garmin 800. I will take a tablet PC with me.
Here are the questions:
- will I be able to have the North America City Navigator Maps and the ACA complete routes on the micro SD?
- I will mainly stop in Motels. Are they usually equipped with WiFi connection to upload my blog and the daily routes?
Thank you for any suggestion

Yes, a 2GB SD card will hold all the U.S. City Navigator maps. The Edge series cannot use the ACA routes, though. For details, see the many topics here that compare the Edge with more suitable receivers. Go to the GPS Discussion index page that lists the topics and do a search for Edge.

90% of motels have Wi-Fi now. Those that do not are usually within a few blocks of a library, store, or another motel that does.
