looking for cycling companions in may, oregon coast

Hello everyone, my name is Emily and I am a college student from Missouri.  This is my first bike tour out of the state and I am looking for anyone who is going around the same time as me and would like to possibly camp or stay together for the trip.  I will be biking from Astoria, OR to Crescent City, CA starting around May 13th. I have a semi-unreliable friend who has said he is going but I'm worried about him backing out and I really don't want to be alone for the whole trip (I'm new to this...) I'm really easy going and don't plan to travel super fast but can keep up if need be.  Please email me if you will be doing this tour around the same time. eel4274@gmail.com

Even if you start alone, you will hardly ever be alone. You'll meet many wonderful people and make some long-term friends. Don't be the slightest bit afraid of starting alone.

The Oregon coast is the most beautiful touring on the West coast, and there are lots of hiker/biker sites along the way($5 only).  The state of Oregon puts out a free route map, with all the campgrounds and hiker/biker sites listed.   You can pick one up at a bike shop. It's the same route as the ACA maps.

The Pacific Coast route is very *crowded in the summer, but the hiker biker sites pretty much take an unlimitted number of people, so no worries.  You will meet lots of people at the campsites.  Go no matter what!

*When I say 'crowded', I mean you will see 5 or 6 other people at the hiker/biker sites at night.

Have fun!

I'd like to do the PCBR again, but it's all the way across the country; too far for me to go these days.

I did the PCBR and stayed at HB camps at state parks only rarely. There usually were people in them. A state park can also be a good place to stop and get a shower during the day's ride.
