Bike Routes in Tuscany
« on: February 19, 2011, 09:16:25 am »
Hi,

I have started planning a tour in Tuscany for next fall.  I've got books, identification of websites where I can download *.gpx files and some maps.  I'd still be interested in suggestions for places to visit.  Right now, the plan is to start in Siena and travel though the southern part of Tuscany headed west and then going up the coast before heading back east in ending at Florence.  The bulk of the tour will be in rural, small towns, not big cities.  Any suggestions?  Day trips, etc. are all welcome.

The road from Volterra to Massa Maritima is lovely, pretty hilly of course.  I'd also recommend a trip to Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti.

The whole area is lovely so wherever you go, you'll enjoy it.   The Michelin maps are the best, look for the green highlighted routes and pack a low gear :)
