Traveling This Year? ...me too

I am wondering who else out there is planning on being on a trip this year. I am going to be taking a long, several month trip starting in July of 2011 and am wanting to meet others who have plans of also being on the road. I would like to meet others and, who knows, maybe meet up on the road.

I like the idea of knowing others who will be taking their trip at the same time as mine.

We are starting in MA going west to NY and heading south from there to catch up to Trans-Am trail.

I.m hoping April heading-south from KY to underground  railroad or natch trace to Quincy  Fla then im open to where to go.. Ron

Mid-May taking train from Chgo to Portland, OR.
Cycling from Portland to Eugene where will visit w/ daughter#1 for few days.
Then the REAL tour begins.
TransAm to Yellowstone.
Own routing over Beartooth Pass and up to Columbus, MT.
NT east to Grand Rapids, MN.
Own routing to visit Apostle Islands, WI, and then over to Conover, WI.
Rejoin NT to travel south to Manitowoc, WI.  Hop on ferry to cross Lake Mich.
Lake Erie Connector to cross MI and Ontario to Niagara Falls.
Rejoin NT to cross NY, VT, & NH.
Own routing down to Sebago Lake area where pickup AC route.
AC and possibly some own routing to get to Boston and daughter#2's place.

Where you can visit the Judy Garland Museum.  When we were there in '99 they had a nice city park for camping, although the showers had mold.

Me?  I am only doing an 8 day loop out of Missoula.  Looking forward to the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway and later the Skalkaho Highway, where we may stop to pan for saphires.

Some people are doing this already by using Twitter and hash tags for the Adventure Cycling routes. You can see recent tweets using the routes from individual route pages on the aca site. Since it is winter many of the routes do not have active conversations, but a few like the Transam have some current conversation, http://www.adventurecycling.org/routes/transamerica.cfm?pg=feeds&feed=acatransam

Okay - it's officially next year but I'm still excited. ACA Southern Tier East to West beginning the first week of March 2012!! On my Lime Green Greenspeed GTO...

Wife started a new job which cut her vacataion time from 15 business days to just 5. Ugh!

That said, clever scheduling using weekends and 4th of July makes it possible for a 10 day trip around the Olympic Peninsula, starting and finishing in our driveway, 35 miles east of Seattle. It will be the first tours on our new Fargos -- can't wait!

Starting May 1st, south central PA to Pittsburgh via the C&O and GAP; Pittsburgh to Erie via the connector. Northern Tier to the Pacific Coast to the Southern Tier to the Atlantic Coast to the Northern Tier to Erie...... On the road this year and next.

The joy of early retirement and not needing to rush (except to get through the Northern Tier before the snows come). I've seem the claim that this can be done in 6 months.... not for me. Too fast, not relaxing, no fun.
