I have more of a adventure when I don't know how far I'll get, what will happen each day, even what the route specifics are.  I try to plan for safety, bad weather, etc, and leave the rest to the ride.  So I'm pretty much in agreement with Bee.  Each to his/her own

I am kind of like that except I'd rather know how far I will get and just not know how long it will take.  That isn't always manageable with limited vacation time and air travel reservations, but it is my preference none the less.
