The Morganza Spillway was opened on May 14 to divert the Mississippi River floodwaters away from Baton Rouge and New Orleans. It is located just northwest of the town of Morganza on map 78. At this time the road over the Spillway remains open. Call the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff to get up-to-date information. In other news, the St. Francisville ferry has been shut down and the new Audubon bridge southeast of the ferry opened on May 5th. It is located about 3.4 mi. downriver from the ferry location. We do not yet have directions on how to reach the bridge, please ask locally.
