Big Sur Road Closure : Alder Creek Slide

Hello,

We are planning a ride through the Big Sur area on PCH 1 next week.  Everything I've seen states the road is closed to all traffic including bicycles.

It is obivious the road is closed, but has anybody hikes down to the waters edge and walked around the slide?

Looking at this picture, it doesn't seem impossible. 

Has anybody been through this area lately?
