Many towns and cities along east coastal Florida serve free meals, usually at dinnertime, and some at lunch and dinner. If there is a way of finding out where and when, by googling for example, you can stop in if you are in the neighborood. I know Daytona was serving really good meals years ago, and still is.

In Vero beach on the ACBR is a place called The Source. They have two or three free meals each day and showers. I believe The Source might be for homeless people, but they would be good for a meal. They have lots left over that might be thrown away. You would have to come in from the island road of A1A a few miles or so, and that's OK too because US 1 has a wide shoulder from Vero Beach north.
