1 week in Maine/New Hampshire/ Massachusettes

Hope somebody can help us.  My girlfriend and I have a week for some credit-card touring at the end of August.  We will be over from the UK and are looking for recommended routes for either a week or somewhere from where we can do a few good day rides (60-100 miles/day).  We'll be flying out of Boston at the end of the trip.  Most importantly we are looking for somewhere that rents relatively good road bikes as we can't bring our bikes with us.

One option is mapmyride.com . Input the location you want to start from and see what pops up. The other is crazyguyonabike.com, albeit more directed to longer distance touring; however, you can search by location. The coastal routes are obviously quite scenic, but summer traffic can be an issue. Good luck and enjoy.

If you plan to noodle around New Hampshire and maybe Vermont be prepared for plenty of gear shifting and short, steep climbs. When I bicycle around my brother's condo near Lebanon NH it seems that I am shifting continuously. It's a big change from my home here in Florida. Make sure your bike has low gears.
