I'm in W Yellowstone.  Was planning a few days in Yellowstone, then exit park @ NE entrance, ride to Cooke City, then over Beartooth, down to Red Lodge, up 78 to Columbus, and then continue my xcountry on L&C.

But Beartooth Hwy is AGAIN closed due to rock/mudslide and opening uncertain.

Looks like best option is to ride up US 191 to Bozeman and continue on L&C from there.

What say ye?

No.

You can go thru the northeast entrance and take Hwy 296 towards Cody then northeast.

Or you could continue through the east entrance to Cody and then northeast to Laurel.
Or you could go thru the north entrance to Livingston.

US191 north from West Yellowstone to Bozeman is a bad bicycling road - winding, shoulderless, narrow two lane, hemmed in by the river, cliffs and stone walls. It is heavily trafficked and full of impatient truck drivers. I rode it once and it was truly harrowing. You couldn't pay me enough to ride it again. I suggest you follow jamawani's advice or wait for Beartooth Pass to open.
