Copy maps

I have a Vista HCX and a have just bought a C Nav North America NT micro card which works as soon as it is installed - no codes etc.  I've tried to copy it as a back-up but it doesn't work.  I have a GB Topo, similarly copied, which does work.  Am I missing something?  Will it work?

I believe this is by design. Garmin copy-protects those cards, rather than registering them to individual receivers, and they cannot be used on a computer. This is why we recommend purchasing the DVD versions of their maps and copying map sets onto your own blank Micro-SD cards.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Perhaps you can find a hack on the web that defeats the Digital Rights Management. This probably violates your license agreement with Garmin, but a personal backup copy would not likely be worth their trouble to prosecute.
