Etiquette mystery? In a nutshell (IMO) Most people are just too busy doing their own thing. (my thing is looking good in spandex <grin>if you like a spandex full of beer belly that is).
-Roadies are in a hurry and are usually arrogant because the rest of the world is to slow for them and in the way.
-Recumbants are in a bigger hurry but are too busy trying to look cool and relaxed while blowing their knees up while thinking I'm better than you because I'm lying down to ride.
-"Adventure cyclists" ironic that in your own country you might nod or smile, but once in the desert or abroad you charge across the road to start a conversation ( well I do anyway cos I cycle alone and now and again need to speak English to someone).
-And some people just dont want you invading their world. There I was in the middle of Uganda and spotted another white cyclist, cycled towards him and tried talking, he really wasn't interested, I got the impression he didn't want someone else invading his african adventure. The last thing he needed was people finding out he wasn't the only white cyclist in Uganda.
Horses for courses, people are generally weird, especially ME
@LexieCali maybe your guy just thought he was so wonderful/irresistible that he wanted you to keep your hands to yourself! Keep both hands on your bars and not on .....
