Garmin BaseCamp Confusion

My tour leader has sent us que sheets & I've already got the maps I need so now I'm trying to pre-prep the daily routes into Garmin BaseCamp so I can push them to my 800.

This. Seems. Impossible.

The ACA GPS guide explains how simple this is using MapSource but, I don't have MapSource - nor will I buy some MORE maps on CD/DVD just to get it :)

Can anyone explain how the heck to get a functional route out of Garmin BaseCamp?

You might find a BaseCamp user here, but I have not seen anyone post about it. If not, try the Windows or Mac BaseCamp forums at Garmin: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=191.

I should think that something as basic as sending data to your GPS unit would be well covered in the BaseCamp Help. Be sure to get what you can there before asking at the forum. Otherwise you will get dissed there.

I've used Garmin BaseCamp to send routes and waypoints to my Dakota 20 without issue.

In the upper left section, is "My Collection" which lets you add folders and lists to that.  Lists are collections of waypoints tracks and routes, so you may want to create a separate one for each lump of data you want to send to your device.  Select one of those, and use the "Send List to Device" button in the toolbar or menu.

Just wondering, what map software have you loaded on to Base Camp? It is important that the type and/or version of map you've loaded supports routing, otherwise Base Camp on its own will not have any data to work with
